Selection #8 - Durkheim - see recent thread on the influence of Durkheim on
modern french intellectuals on the Bourdieu list - specific reference to
Foucault. Then read Durkheim on crime in 'Les règles de la méthode
sociologique' - where you will find a possible answer to your questions.
Discipline and punish can be read as an argument with le père fondateur.

Lemert has, of course, read Durkheim.
