My thanks to Jorge Pedraza for the very interesting excerpt from Foucault
about mirrors and utopias. The last line that is quoted by Pedraza is:

The ship is the heterotopia par excellence. In civilizations without boats,
dreams dry up, espionage takes the place of adventure, and the police take
the place of pirates.

Of course, what this reminds one of is F's discussion of the ship of fools in
_Madness and Civilization_.
