"Progressive" politics and "objectivity" (especially in the historical
materialist sense) are incorrect attributions to Foucault's philosophy.
Foucault, by all means, was not a marxist! From what I've gathered by
reading the biographies there are two primary philosophical strangleholds
Foucault made a concerted effort during his lieftime to escape. One was the
philosophy of Sartre. The other was marxism in any form.
