On the other hand, in "The Return of Morality," p. 250 of _Politics,
Philosophy, Culture: Interviews and Other Writings 1977-1984_, ed.
Lawrence Kritzman, Foucault says: "I hardly know _Being and Time_ nor
what has been published recently." Though in the same place he says,
"My entire philosophical development was determined by my reading of
Heidegger." Well, if he hardly kinows _Being and Time_ and he hasn't
done much with what has been published recently, what does he know?
And on the other other hand, in the same place, Foucault says he has
"tons" of notes on Heidegger. Perhaps he got a lot out of reading a
little? That's certainly possible.
